If your dog outweighs your grip, the question is not whether you can hold on but what you are holding on to. A collar puts all of it through the neck. A back clip harness hands the dog leverage it did not previously have. This is built the other way round: load spread across the chest, a front ring to take the pull out of a lunge, and a handle over the shoulders for the moments when you need the dog beside you now.

Sizing and fit
Measure the chest at its widest point, just behind the front legs, and use that rather than your dog’s weight. Weight is the usual shortcut and it is the usual reason a harness arrives wrong, because two dogs at the same weight can be built completely differently. S covers 24.4 to 33.1 inches, M covers 30.3 to 39, L covers 34.3 to 45.3 and XL covers 36.6 to 48.
If a measurement falls between two sizes, take the larger and bring it in on the adjusters. There are four of them, which is what lets the same harness fit a deep chested dog and a barrel chested one.
The handle and the front ring
These are the two parts that change a walk. The handle sits over the shoulders, so you can steady a dog at a kerb or lift it into a boot without hauling on its neck. The front ring turns a dog slightly back towards you when it pulls, which removes the leverage instead of fighting it. A back ring is still there for when the dog is walking well and you want a loose line.
The bungee section of the leash absorbs the shock of a lunge rather than passing it to your wrist and shoulder, which matters more than it sounds if you walk the same dog twice a day.
Materials and care
1000D nylon is the heavier end of what harnesses are made from, and the buckles are metal rather than plastic, which is the usual failure point on a dog that pulls hard. Rinse mud off and air dry rather than putting it on a radiator, and check the stitching at the ring mounts every few months.
Questions
Will it stop pulling by itself? No, and no harness does. It makes pulling less rewarding and gives you control while you train. Nothing you buy replaces the two weeks of practice.
Is the MOLLE webbing useful? If you walk somewhere remote, yes, for pouches or a water bottle. Otherwise it is cosmetic.
